An international association for the assistance, by prayers and alms, of Catholic missionaries throughout the world. Founded in 1822 at Lyons, France, by Pauline Jaricot. It is now under the auspices of the Sacred Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples (Propagation of the Faith).
